About Us

Mona has always had a passion for food. 'I remember all the times my Oma (grandmother) cooked and baked for the family and how delicious and special it was. I knew food would be my lifelong passion. It brings me great happiness to cook for people with my love for food, knowing they enjoy it and knowing its healthy and comforting. I love to make my Austrian treats as it takes me back to Austria for that moment and I love to give this experience to people.'

Carly has always been a people person, having the gift of making people feel comfortable and special. 'We wanted to build a sense of community, a safe space where everyone is welcome. We pride ourselves on love, respect and kindness to make our cafe a beautiful place and of course we like to bring some craziness and fun into the mix too'. On our journey we have met so many beautiful people and their amazing support has helped us on our journey by not only visiting us but leaving amazing reviews in The Guardian, Die Presse (Austrian newspaper), on Google, Facebook and TripAdvisor.

We would like to thank every single one of you who have supported us.

We are eternally grateful and can't wait for what the future holds.

Lots of Love, Mona and Carly xx

Our Story

Mona born and raised in Krems, Austria and Carly from High Barnet, North London, opened their doors to monaliciousfood in Hoxton, East London in March 2019. Mona has always had a passion for food and dreamt of having her own cafe, while Carly has always aspired to have her own business. They both met at the Olympics in 2012 and have since become best friends and partners. In 2018 Mona left her PA/Team Coordinator role and Carly her role as Film & Photographic Studio Manager to fulfill their dreams. They found an affordable property to rent in Hoxton within their budget. ’The decision was quick and bold, but it felt right. We knew that we wanted to do this and you have to grab the opportunity when it arrives. We wanted to create a space which brings all people from different walks of life together whilst staying real and authentic to ourselves.'
